Hire Resolve is seeking an Asset Manager for a leading solar power company. Based in Cape Town, this role involves managing the financial, commercial, and operational performance of utility-scale solar PV plants across Africa. The Asset Manager will work closely with stakeholders to drive efficiency, optimize costs, and ensure project compliance. Responsibilities
- Oversee SPV asset management as General Manager throughout each project’s lifecycle, focusing on driving both financial and operational performance to maximize profitability through refinancing, performance improvements, and cost management.
- Lead financial oversight by managing profit and loss activities, analyzing budgets and financial results, monitoring plant performance, and implementing corrective maintenance measures, including project insurance and contractor variation assessments.
- Administer all aspects of project financing, from payment monitoring and loan disbursements to equity contributions and cashflow management, ensuring financial models are updated, budgets aligned, and financial health maintained.
- Collaborate with the Finance team on revenue invoicing, cost management, and contribute to group-level financial reporting to ensure overall budget adherence.
- Manage contracts with all third-party partners and stakeholders, ensuring full compliance with all contractual, regulatory, and governance obligations, including proper documentation, filings, and adherence to legal standards.
- Ensure alignment with socio-economic and development obligations, providing the Board with timely updates on financial and operational performance and contributing to robust governance practices.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with governmental entities, landowners, local communities, and other key stakeholders, supporting compliance with environmental and social management plans and overseeing community development projects.
- Engage with both internal and external stakeholders to streamline communication and compliance across projects.
- Support administrative functions that extend beyond standard O&M and EPC contracts, assisting the Development Team with bid preparation, operational insights, and relevant expertise to enhance contract effectiveness.
- Lead and develop the Asset Analysts team by setting KPIs, managing workloads, and fostering team efficiency, supporting recruitment, training, and ensuring alignment with broader team goals.
Requirements
- CA(SA) or equivalent qualification, or an engineering degree with demonstrated financial expertise in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field
- Proficiency in cash flow management, budgeting, and financial modeling
- Familiarity with project finance, financial modeling certification, and renewable energy projects
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Capability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and methodical
- Proactive and results-driven, with a strong commitment to renewable energy
- 5-7 years of experience in project-related asset management, finance, project finance, corporate finance, or accounting
- Ideal experience includes renewable energy asset management, financial modeling, and work in multinational corporate settings
- Additional experience with project finance agreements and corporate governance is beneficial
