You’ll be joining NPL’sCIO function under the Enterprise Architecture team, steering business stakeholders toward making the most informed decisions around technology.
Key responsibilities include:
Engaging with business, scientific, and IT stakeholders to discover their processes, information systems, and the constraints they work with.
Maintain diagrams and databases for enterprise architecture artifacts.
Provide oversight to technology integration projects to ensure architectural direction is followed, business constraints are not introduced, and technical debt is limited.
Working with the solution architecture team to ensure they are best equipped with the knowledge and details they need to develop designs.
Performing initial project engagements with business stakeholders to ensure that cataloged technology solutions can be re-used and that we don’t re-invent the wheel.
Managing the complexity of NPL’s IT estate by recommending the most appropriate classes of solution (re-use vs. new instance vs. new tech)
Key projects you’ll be working on initially:
ERP2 -our next stages of integrating HRIS, e-Commerce, CRM, and other business systems with our new Dynamics 365 ERP system.
Digital and Data Strategy – shaping the future and laying the foundations for NPL’s journey to digitising a legacy lab estate and better enabling science and use of cloud services.
Essential
You have a previous background in (or career pathway to) Enterprise Architecture
You have a previous background in senior IT engineering position (Sysadmin, Infrastructure, IT architecture, cloud)
You are an excellent communicator and go the extra mile to make sure people are informed.
You are a trustworthy individual that excels at building business relationships.
You have extensive experience in diagramming and visual representation (Draw.IO preferable, optionally Visio)
You have experience in using data visualisation software (PowerBI, Tableau, Grafana)
You have the ability to quickly sketch/draw technical architecture, processes, graphs, and charts for facilitating communication in meetings
Highly Desired
Understanding or experience with the CSVLOD EA artefact taxonomy
Knowledge of the Zachman framework
Experience in Microsoft Dynamics 365
Experience in SalesForce
Experience in Microsoft Azure
Experience in SQL

Experience in working with containerisation technology (Docker, LXC)
