Sewell Wallis is looking for an accomplished and motivated Finance Leader to join a successful team in a crucial role, directly reporting to the Finance Director. This Head of Finance opportunity is ideal for a qualified Accountant ready to make an impact during an exciting time of change within the business.
As Head of Finance, you will need to be a forward-thinking strategist who can guide and inspire large finance teams while cultivating a high-performance environment and driving continuous improvement. With a solid technical foundation in areas like financial reporting, management accounting, treasury, accounts receivable/payable, and financial controls, the successful candidate will significantly influence the organisation's financial governance and ensure adherence to critical regulatory and audit requirements.
What will you be doing?
- Lead the preparation of statutory financial statements and manage external audit processes.
- Guarantee the accuracy and punctual delivery of management accounts, collaborating closely with internal stakeholders.
- Oversee monthly cash flow forecasting and ensure accurate balance sheet reconciliations.
- Provide technical accounting guidance and ensure compliance with VAT and tax.
- Enhance the finance control environment, including oversight of treasury management and counter-fraud initiatives.
- Promote best practices in external financial reporting and drive finance transformation projects.
- Build and develop a high-performing finance team, emphasising diversity, inclusion, and teamwork.
- Motivate and engage staff, fostering a culture of ongoing improvement and empathetic leadership.
What skills are we looking for?
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with extensive post-qualification experience.
- Proven leadership experience within large, complex business.
- In-depth knowledge of statutory financial reporting, management accounting, and external audits.
- Excellent communication skills with a proven track record of influencing senior stakeholders.

- Salary: c. 90,000.
- Holiday: 25 days, increasing to 30, with the option to buy and sell additional days.
