Locomotive Maintenance Engineering Technician, Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Locomotive Technician to join our team at our Longport, Stoke-on-Trent depot. As a Locomotive Technician, you will take pride in delivering fleet reliability through the timely, safe and effective execution of allocated contract maintenance and engineering projects, whilst keeping within agreed timescales and budgets. You will need to have a proactive approach working on the fleet of commercial freight trains covering refurbishment, servicing and exams.
Ideally we are looking for a technician that has experience within the rail industry, but with many cross transferable skills the role would suit candidates that are exiting the Armed forces, particularly the REME or those that have experience with servicing large HGV's, buses or trams.
The role will include:
- Carrying out maintenance, repair, overhaul, modification and fault-finding activities
- Lead engineer for contracts, projects or tasks as necessary to support operational performance
- Updating SAP system to ensure availability of parts
- Inputting data into the locomotive history tracking system
- Assisting other engineers on the team
- Conducting audits in line with Company quality management standards and processes
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives
- Acting as a role model of Quality, Health and Safety and Environmental Policies
- Working in line with legislation and rail industry requirements
What we would love you to bring to the role:
- L3 Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent
- Driving license (B/ B1)
- Demonstrable history of working effectively with Diesel engineering technology and associated systems and controls
- Self- starter and a team player, able to coach and help others to get the job done to a high-standard
- A strong communicator with ability to build relationships across the organisation
- A logical, analytical and objective approach to problem solving and fault diagnosis
- High level of professionalism & strong sense of customer satisfaction
Shift:
- Week 1 - Monday-Thursday 06:00-14:30, Friday 06:00-12:00
- Week 2 - Monday-Thursday 14:00-22:00, Friday 11:00-17:00
