The Growth Company s (GC) Corporate Services team have an exciting new opportunity for a Health & Safety Officer to develop and maintain a comprehensive Health and Safety Management System within the GC group. To promote a positive Health and Safety culture, complete risk assessments and audit Health and Safety documentation within areas of the GC group. To provide Health and Safety advice and training.

This role is 4-5 days on the road and does require 1 day a month at Lee House in Manchester.
Key Responsibilities:
- To assist further develop the GC Group Health and Safety Policy and to ensure it is implemented appropriately.
- Devise and design electronic processes to automate health and safety systems to provide data recording and in compliance with regulations, best practice and GDPR where appropriate.
- To complete premises inspections within the GC sites and develop and maintain Health and Safety Management Systems and audit scheme.
- To undertake audits of Health and Safety paperwork and provide Health and Safety Training when required.
- To maintain a schedule of monitoring visits to ensure ongoing compliance with current legislation and any contractual requirements, e.g. Fire/premises assessments, inspections etc.
- To keep up to date information on any new guidance, policy changes from any of the
- Government Offices/Agencies that will impact upon the GC Group and to take appropriate action (briefing documents, workshops; input to team meetings etc.) to ensure that relevant groups of staff are kept informed of relevant developments regarding H&S matters.
- Undertake investigations of accidents/incidents involving staff and clients.
- Undertake Statutory assessments when requested e.g. Workstation assessments, new or expectant mother assessments.
- Develop and maintain H&S systems and keep up to date with legislation and provide statistical data to provide management information to the Group H&S manager.
About you:
- Flexible attitude to role and hours.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of H&S legislation and the ability to translate it in to pragmatic and realistic advice and actions.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft word, excel.
- Good interpersonal and team-working skills.
- IT Skills to develop H&S processes.
Skills Required:
- NEBOSH Certificate as a minimum, or evidence of similar competency or working towards these qualifications.
- Ability to write clear and concise reports.
- Full valid driving licence.
- History of working in a commercial environment.
- Experience in devising and managing electronic systems.
- Skilled trainer and good presentation skills.
- Knowledge of quality management.
- Desirable to have experience working in the justice system.
