The site Process Safety Engineer will form part of the existing EHS team to assist the EHS Manger on all matters relating to Process Safety at our Brimsdown site.
You will need to be proactively participate within the EHS team offering solutions to many situations as they arise and actively promote and support a positive PSM culture. You will also ensure focus and delivery of relevant activities to drive programmatic process safety risk reduction, including implementation and verification of practices against the JM process safety policies to ensure compliance, reporting metrics and incidents to JM.
This role will work closely, proactively, and collaboratively with the wider PSM Team to support the development and implementation of the Process Safety Management strategy for PGMS.

Your responsibilities:- Provide early warning and planning guidance to businesses, and site leadership regarding compliance and implications.
- Ensure compliance with Control of Major Accident Hazards (COMAH) Regulations, local Process Safety legislation, internal process safety policies, procedures and programs.
- Support the improvement and development of process safety practices and systems to drive consistent behaviours and systematically control process safety risk and compliance.
- Provide expertise on process safety risk assessment and risk management processes, methods, and standards; leading process safety risk assessment, coaching others in risk management methodology, and ensuring process safety compliance to JM policies.
- Support the development and implementation of bowtie diagrams in collaboration with the wider PSM team(s).
- Develop, coordinate, and deliver process safety training for JM staff and contractors in collaboration with the PSM team.
Requirements for the role:- Relevant Degree (e.g., Chemical/Mechanical/EC&I etc.)
- High level of numeracy, working with systems and data
- Demonstrable experience working in a process environment (chemical/oil & gas), preferably in an upper tier COMAH site in a relevant role.
- Detailed working knowledge of PSM compliance, conducting RCA investigations, PHAs/HAZOP, writing operating procedures, emergency response, facility siting, management of change, process/equipment design, contractor management, compiling and communicating bowtie diagrams and application of LOPA.
- Ability to distil complex situations into clear and simple summaries for presentation to non- subject-matter expert / senior leadership teams.
