HOUSING RESETTLEMENT OFFICER
Borehamwood, Hertsmere
To support the delivery of the council s private sector offer approach for non-statutory homeless households or those with complex needs including actively engaging with private sector landlords and acting as a liaison between landlord and prospective tenant
To work closely with the Homelessness Prevention and Temporary Accommodation teams to provide tenancy sustainment for customers including those with refugee status. Mainly Afghan and Ukrainian families who are nominated for a private rented property
To work collaboratively with the council s supported housing scheme to identify move on options for individuals, including former rough sleepers and ex-offenders, which may include social housing or private rented accommodation
To support the verification and outreach work, visiting individuals who have been reported at street homeless and encouraging engagement with the Housing team
To provide support and advice to households to secure and maintain their tenancy acquired through the scheme and to manage successful repayments from tenants, ensuring charges are paid and arrears are pursued for both current and former tenants.
To support the team to deliver the Let with Hertsmere scheme, a similar scheme designed to support households the council owes a homelessness duty to, preventing and relieving homelessness to help meet housing need and to facilitate the effective delivery of the Homelessness Reduction Act
- To actively promote the council s private sector offer, engaging with private landlords, lettings agents, estate agents and other housing providers to identify and facilitate access to the private rented sector for people in housing need
- To handle all enquiries and referrals from landlords relating to the scheme to ensure an effective customer facing service
- To work closely with the Homelessness Prevention and Temporary Accommodation teams to provide tenancy sustainment for customers including those with refugee status. Mainly Afghan and Ukrainian families who are nominated for a private rented property
- Support the wider Housing objectives to minimise the number of individuals rough sleeping and maximise the successful move on from the council s new supported housing scheme
- In coordination with the Housing Initiatives Team Leader and the Private Sector Enforcement Team Leader, conduct property inspections of private rented landlord properties to determine if the property is suitable to let through the council
- Maintain good relationships with landlords and letting agents in order to promote the scheme and reputation
