Reporting to the Solar O&M Manager Direct subordinates: Lead Electrician Job Purpose Installation of solar installations and commissioning the photovoltaic system from beginning to end, including the COC and all other required by law registrations Key Performance Areas Technical Support and Installation control (40%) Compliance and Certification (40%) Customer Service (15%) Cost Control (5%) Technical Support and Installation control: Liaises with the O&M Manager: Industrial to review project plans and drawings. Ensures that the project is built according to design and signed off on COC and other by-laws Set up solar monitoring system. Diagnose and trouble shoot system malfunctions and operational issues. Assemble the solar array racking, properly seal all roof penetrations, and install all relevant equipment. Installations will include residential, light commercial grid-tied photovoltaic systems, as well as large scale industrial and IPP scoped project installations. Report to, coordinate and collaborate with the Installation Supervisor and Engineering department to install all photovoltaic system components. Compliance and Certification: Ensures compliance with all relevant regulations and procedures to prevent fruitless, wasteful and irregular expenditure. Maintain high levels of quality assurance and quality control, with emphasis on safety. Ensure that all installations meet industry standards and codes. Works with the crew members to complete projects within established timeframes, policies and procedures Qualifications: Grade 12 Certificate NQF 4) National Diploma in Electrical / Electronic Engineering (NQF 6) 3Phase Wiremans licence QCTO Red Seal Electrician Certification AREP/ SAPVIA PV Green Card certification (Preferred) Experience: Up to 3 years Solar Installation experience (Both roof and ground mount systems) Experience in micro and string invertors and setting up monitoring systems. Technical Competencies: Computer Literacy (MS Office Suite Advanced Excel). Other relevant discipline-specific software programs such as: Windows 10; ERP Systems; and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES). Sound exposure in solar inverter testing (UPS and Rectifier) and PCB replacement. Knowledge on reading lithium battery BMS data via USB RS232 / RS 485 comms cable and upload to PC (screen clips and saving data). Ability to analyse and mark Excel data for BMS alarms and protection events. Conducting Inverter firmware updates
