Were looking for We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper to manage a wide range of financial tasks, including bank and cash reconciliations, processing transactions to the trial balance level, managing debtors and creditors, and preparing VAT and PAYE returns. You will also play a crucial role in the implementation of a new ERP system by capturing historical balances and facilitating a smooth transition for each branch. Whats the role? You will be responsible for: Bank and Cash Reconciliations: Perform daily, weekly, and monthly bank reconciliations for multiple accounts. Reconcile cash transactions across 67 retail branches. Identify discrepancies and resolve issues promptly. Prepare month-end bank and cash reconciliations. Transaction Processing: Process all financial transactions up to the trial balance level. Ensure all entries are accurate and comply with accounting standards. Debtors Management: Collect outstanding debts from customers promptly. Maintain accurate records of all debtor transactions. Reconcile debtor accounts and resolve any discrepancies. Creditors Management: Ensure timely payment of creditors according to agreed terms. Reconcile creditor statements and handle any queries. Maintain accurate records of all creditor transactions. Payments Processing: Load all payments on the banking platform for authorisation. Verify payment details and ensure compliance with company policies. Fixed Asset Management: Create and maintain accurate fixed asset registers. Track asset acquisitions, disposals, and depreciation. Reconcile fixed asset registers with the general ledger. Payroll Entries: Process payroll entries not automated from the attendance system. Collaborate with HR to update and maintain employee payroll records. Tax Compliance: Prepare VAT and PAYE returns accurately and on time. ERP System Implementation Support: Capture and input historical financial data from the manual system into the new ERP system. Assist in migrating each branch onto the ERP platform, ensuring data integrity. Provide feedback on system functionality and suggest improvements. Enhancing Control Environment: Review and improve existing financial controls and procedures. Implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy in bookkeeping processes. Assist in internal audits and compliance activities. General Bookkeeping Duties: Prepare month-end reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts. Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes. Prepare financial reports for management as required. Who are you? You are experienced with banks and cash reconciliations across multiple locations. You are proficient in processing transactions up to trial balance. You are familiar with debtors and creditors management. You have experience in preparing VAT and PAYE returns. You have knowledge of South African accounting standards and tax regulations. You pay excellent attention to detail and have a high level of accuracy. You have the ability to work independently and as part of a team. You have good communication skills, both written and verbal. Boxes to tick Matric National Diploma or Certificate in Bookkeeping or Accounting. Professional qualifications from recognised institutions such as South African Institute of Business Accountants (SAIBA) - highly advantageous. 5 years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in a retail environment. Hands-on experience with ERP systems - advantageous Experience in system implementation - advantageous Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
