Overview:
• We are looking for a candidate who will be responsible for ensuring the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the in-house information systems that support core organisational functions. This is achieved by monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimising all networked software and associated operating systems.
Responsibilities:
Strategy & Planning:
• Collaborate with network staff to ensure smooth and reliable operation of software and systems for fulfilling business objectives and processes.
• Work with executive team members, decision makers, and stakeholders to define business requirements and systems goals, and to identify and resolve business systems issues.
Acquisition & Deployment
• Design and deploy new applications and enhancements to existing applications, software, and operating systems.
• Conduct research on software and systems products to justify recommendations and to support purchasing efforts.
Operational Management
• Determine the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems; develop and implement strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.
• Design and perform server and security audits, system backup procedures, and other recovery processes in accordance with the company’s disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.
• Integrate servers, including database, e-mail, print, and backup servers and their associated software into enterprise systems.
• Ensure system connectivity of all servers, shared software, groupware, and other applications.
• Create and maintain documentation as it relates to system configuration, mapping, processes, and
service records.
• Ensure compatibility and interoperability of in-house computing systems.
• Monitor and test system performance; prepare and deliver system performance statistics and
reports.
• Configure, troubleshoot, isolate, repair, and resolve all customer desktop issues including
desktop/laptop hardware and software, mobile devices, printer/scanners/copiers, audio visual
equipment, hardware peripherals and other desktop related equipment.
• Communicate directly with customers via phone, e-mail and remote diagnostics to identify,
reproduce and resolve customer reported issues.
• Work independently to troubleshoot all support requests and follow escalation policies.
• Responsible for computer hardware builds and maintaining inventory for computers ready to
deploy.
• Establish and maintain a positive professional relationship with users.
• Responsible for ensuring all company stipulated software and tools are correctly installed and
maintained with the correct versions and patches applied.
• Participates in after hours on call rotation.
• Provide training and mentoring for desktop support team members, including escalated support
requests.

Experience/Knowledge:
• Minimum Matric
• Minimum of 4 years general IT experience
• MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional) & A + Certification highly preferred
• Certification in technologies (A+, N+, MCSE).
• CompTIA N+ or IT Diploma or MCITP (Desktop Engineer)
• Basic knowledge of IP networking and protocols, e.g. HTTP, FTP, SMTP, DNS, WINS, DHCP.
• Basic understanding of network services, e.g. email / internet / firewall / Proxy / VPN
• Above average knowledge of commonly used applications (MS Office suite of products , Internet
Browsers)
• Detailed knowledge of computer hardware (Desktops, laptops, components & peripherals).
• Basic knowledge of Fortinet Firewalls
• Basic knowledge of VMWare
• Basic knowledge of Veeam
