- National Diploma / N6 Mechanical Engineer
- Trade Test Fitter and Turner
- 10 years’ experience heavy duty engineering industry as supervisor /foreman
- Experience in mechanical equipment
- Maintenance off crop planning and budgeting
- Sugar industry experience with power generation section
- Knowledge and experience in reliable, preventive and predictive maintenance
- Maintenance and operating knowledge of Boiler Equipment
- Strong leadership and quality workmanship
- Computer literate with Planned maintenance system
Duties
- Provides leadership to the Power Generation Maintenance Workshop to ensure plant availability
- Ensures effective maintenance of mechanical equipment
- Monitors daily performances figures to ensure equipment is operating at their optimum efficiency
- Carries out special test to identify sources of inefficiency
- Proactively investigates recurring breakdowns or equipment failures
- Ensures that the plant is maintained adequately by making use of condition-based monitoring systems
- Monitors the condition of the Bearing Cooling Water (BCW) system
Provides a safe working environment for subordinates and ensures that subordinates comply with all safety requirements
