The Sales Manager will be responsible for overseeing sales activities, developing, and implementing sales strategies, conducting market research, and building relationships with clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales and Existing Network Development
- Compiles a territory Business Plan Annually in advance
- Oversees and facilitates the Site Business Plans for each service station in the designated area
- Ensure All Business Plan volume targets and Business Plan KPIs are achieved
- Monitors monthly performance and agreed action plans to ensure targets achieved
- Report site progress and recommendation to management team
- Monitor sales (fuel purchases) and identify areas where sales are being lost
- Monitors and benchmarks external trends, including competitors, regulations, industry trends, structure and new clients
- Identifies new opportunities for business for The Group which includes but is not limited to new commercial customers and new retail service stations
- Monitors and regularly conducts field visits and research to establish competitor activity in the Group area
- Scans the Group territory to identify potential new locations for new retail service stations, truck stops or commercial installations
- Networks within industry to establish profitable and well-located service stations with limited/expired tenure to convert the site.
Stakeholder Relations
- Manage and maintain relations with retailers and franchises in the network, along with the BC’s
- Develop and grow relationships with the retailers and franchisees in the Group
- Establish customer satisfaction in respect of service standards, customer care and customer responsiveness.
- Manage and cultivate existing relationships and expand recurring revenue streams.
- Collaborate with colleagues and service providers to drive the values of the business
New Business Development
- Identifies, screen and pursue new opportunities for business for the Group which includes but is not limited to new commercial customers and new retail service stations within the region.
- Scans the Group territory to identify potential new locations for new retail service stations, truck stops or commercial installations.
- Negotiate and close new business opportunities.
- Develop, review and report on the sales process.
- Support the marketing and branding activities, acting as a business ambassador.
- Understanding competitors in the market, to ensure we remain relevant and ahead of the game.
- Work with the team of Business Consultants to put together a development and performance plan that would set the team up for success.
Requirements
- Located in Northern Cape
- The position involves intensive business travel within the Northern Cape region.
- Proven experience in Sales or Business Development.
- Knowledge on the Petroleum/ Energy Sector and market trends is essential.
- Good understanding of the complete value chain from sales, financing, to operation & maintenance.
- Able to develop and implement sales strategies.
- Ability to identify and engage business stakeholders.
- Advanced communication skills and negotiation skills.
- High personal drive, independent work style, result oriented and open to changing environments.
- Proven analytical skills.
