Estimator Job Description
We are looking for an Estimator who is an integral member of the team responsible for dealing with tenders from receipt of enquiry, sending out enquiries to subcontractors, and finalizing tenders for submission under the direction of the Commercial Director. Upon a tender being successful, you will be required to complete a handover and support the project managers in liaising with suppliers and subcontractors as needed.
The successful candidate will ideally have experience working on interiors and/or shop fitting projects, preferably with a background in the trade.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Attend client meetings and assist with determination of project requirements as needed.
- Interpret drawings from concept designs through to full working construction drawings.
- Complete detailed, trade-specific enquiries and accurately communicate relevant information to various subcontractors.
- Effectively and accurately communicate relevant information to the client and project team.
- Maintain a regular, consistent high level of service and professional relationships with clients.
- Identify and minimize risk to the business.
- Have a good understanding of construction methods and materials.
- Support the project team in placing orders with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Communicate ideas for improving company processes with a positive and constructive attitude, and develop this attitude in others.
Desired Experience & Qualifications
- Experience in the Shopfitting and Interior fit-out industry - 3 years or more.
- High attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret drawings.
- Within commutable distance.
- Ability to produce take-offs and prepare bills of quantities.
- Ability to send detailed, trade-specific enquiries and accurately communicate relevant information to various subcontractors to ensure pricing accuracy.
- Sound knowledge and use of Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Experience in reviewing quotations to ensure fair, accurate, and reasonable pricing for approval.
- Ability to understand and identify main points in contracts from clients.
- Experience with AutoCAD.
- Sound ability to prioritize tasks.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and keen to develop within the business.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team-based environment.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Valid driving license.
