Market Developer Manager

This role offers the chance to lead operations in new territories during their infancy, with a focus on achieving revenue growth and profitability within the initial two years.
You will collaborate with internal stakeholders to conduct comprehensive market analysis, develop go-to-market strategies, and identify new business opportunities. With a strong emphasis on risk management, you will work closely with compliance, legal, and audit teams to ensure regulatory adherence and mitigate potential challenges associated with market expansion. Key qualifications for the Market Developer Manager:
- A degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field
- 8+ years of experience in Business Development or Market Development
- Experience in developing business in African countries other than South Africa
- Proficiency in French, Portuguese, or Kiswahili is advantageous

- Develop comprehensive business cases including financial projections and market analysis.
- Execute go-to-market strategies considering regulatory, cultural, and competitive factors.

- Analyse market trends and customer needs to develop innovative product strategies.
- Develop detailed market entry plans including timelines, investments, and competitive strategies.
- Implement expansion plans for smooth market entries and successful launches.
- Maintain a strong pipeline of strategic partnerships with target organisations.
- Identify, negotiate, and establish partnerships with key stakeholders and regulators.
- Manage operations in new outbound countries for up to two years, focusing on P&L ownership and revenue growth.
- Develop integration plans for local markets, considering regional variations and collaborating with regional teams.
- Ensure operational readiness in new countries before handing over to sales functions.
- Establish collaborative frameworks for effective communication and cooperation among internal teams.
- Partner with customer support and product teams to enhance the customer journey.
- Collaborate with digital and IT teams to optimise online platform utilisation.
- Provide regular progress reports on cross-functional collaboration achievements and improvement initiatives.
- Implement feedback mechanisms to facilitate continuous improvement of strategies.
- Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with compliance, legal, and audit teams to establish frameworks and contingency plans for risk management.
- Generate performance analysis reports, highlighting success metrics, challenges, and areas for improvement.
- Conduct benchmarking exercises against industry standards and competitors, refining strategies for enhanced performance.
- Facilitate meetings with new partners and prepare necessary documentation and presentations.
- Coordinate with Licensing and Compliance departments, negotiate agreement terms, and ensure completion of all required documentation for final agreements.
- Communicate with internal departments to ensure stakeholders are informed of project plans.
- Collaborate with relevant parties and Project Manager to understand partner requirements.
- Engage with partners to enhance their well-being and address any issues professionally.
- Manage partner relationships, addressing issues promptly and escalating when necessary, while ensuring retention of quality partnerships.
