Occupational Medical Practitioner required for a period of 36 months on a project (as and when needed).
Location: Must be based in Gauteng.
Responsibilities:
- Management and completion of IOD Medical Reports.
- Conduct pre-employment, periodic, and exit medical examinations.
- Oversee the Fitness for Work process.
- Review outcomes of all occupational health tests for adverse exposure effects and impacts on medical fitness to work, and manage deviations.
- Provide monthly progress reports.
- Manage sick absenteeism.
- Approve long sick leaves and traditional healer sick notes.
- Address travel-related illnesses.
- Manage pharmacy issues.
- Handle general medical issues of employees as well as mine medical issues.
- Attend meetings and assist during the absence of an Occupational Medicine Practitioner (vacation leave, sick leave, study leave, etc.).
- Travel to various client sites based in and around Pretoria and neighboring locations to render services.
- Provide reports as per management needs, including site-specific reports.
Qualifications:
Must be a qualified Medical Doctor with MBChB or MBBCh or equivalent qualification acceptable to the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as an independent practitioner and a Diploma in Occupational Medicine.
- Registration with a professional body/institute (e.g., Health Professional Council of South Africa and SASOM).
- MUST have Medical Protection Insurance.
- Registration with the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases (COID) Act 1993 (Act 130 of 1993).
- Registration with the Department of Health for a Dispensing Licence.
