What We’re Looking For:
The Media Specialist works within the 2U Learning division as part of the Media Operations team. This role strikes a balance between the coordination of media operations administrative tasks as well as hands-on technical tasks. As a member of the media management support team, they will be directly involved in coordinating and executing various media management workflows from the ingest of raw media through final delivery of academic content across all of 2U’s product lines. They will also work with all ancillary post-production related equipment and peripherals that enable the ingest, transcode, video editing, motion graphics, audio mixing, color correction, video quality assurance, and delivery of media assets. This role will collaborate with internal 2U stakeholders including the Video Production and Curriculum Management teams, and external vendors including post-production, video quality assurance, learning designers, and implementation service providers. A successful Media Specialist will have strong technical, organizational, and problem-solving skills to help execute the media management/post-production process. They will remain self-motivated and have a positive presence while managing the delivery workflow for multiple projects in a fast-moving environment. They must pay unwavering attention to detail while staying focused on our ultimate goal of delivering a polished product in a timely manner.
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:
- (Ongoing) Support media operations and post-production staff in managing various aspects of media workflows/processes.
- (Ongoing) Communication between internal stakeholders and vendors, regarding video/media requests, project requirements, and deadlines.
- Adhere to established deadlines for ingest, media management, final delivery, and other related post-production tasks, and help track and maintain media asset deliverables via various systems and reports.
- Collaborate with 2U’s video editing vendor to prepare media assets for post-production.
- Execute file-based ingest workflows of various formats of acquired raw media, including on-location, studio, and zoom media (30%), including troubleshooting technical issues as they arise with support from the Engineering team.
- Gather and apply various technical and editorial metadata to both raw and final media assets within our media asset management system, IPV Curator.
- Coordinate and execute assigned media-related requests including partner asset requests.
- Take on additional duties and responsibilities as required.
Things That Should Be In Your Background:
- 3+ years of professional video/digital media post-production and/or media operations experience.
- Proven ability to exercise sound decision making in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with Digital/Media Asset Management software, and/or Product/Project Management Systems - Atlassian Jira and/or IPV Curator a bonus.
- Familiarity with metadata best practices with media management environment.
- Working knowledge of related post-production software including Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop) and/or other NLE systems. Video editing skills are preferred.
- Understanding of various media formats including resolution, size, and video frame rate.
- Experience with various technology and software solutions such as Google apps, Microsoft Office, Amazon Web Services, Slack and overall web-savviness.
- Impeccable verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate in a courteous, tactful, and concise manner.
