HOD: Minerals Trade Non-Energy Operations

The Head of Trade Non-Energy Operations is responsible for planning, organizing, managing, leading, and controlling the operations and functions of the Natural Resources Mineral commodities within South Africa, specifically related to Steel Making Raw Materials, Non-Ferrous concentrates and Metals, Fertilizers, and Industrial Minerals. This role aims to meet business objectives and ensure compliance with Company policies and business guidelines.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate inspection activities (planning, executing, and controlling) with the relevant branch supervisors and commodity coordinators.
- Manage and monitor operational performance at each location regarding queries on quality and staffing.
- Assist the Regional Manager in the costing of projects.
- Ensure that adequate and appropriate manpower resources, equipment, and tools are available for total operational efficiency by coordinating with branch supervisors.
- Assist the Regional Manager in effectively managing and continuously improving the quality management system and implementing any certifications and accreditation systems within the business lines.
- Oversee fleet management, i.e., use of SGS vehicles by reviewing vehicle logs monthly.
- Ensure liaison and technical support to all present and potential clients by coordinating with commodity coordinators.
- Assist the Regional Manager with all complaints and claim resolution.
- Attend to technical and sales support as well as proposal coordination with commodity coordinators.
- Attend all meetings as per client requirements.
- Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system.
- Perform quality checks on reports/certificates before they are issued to clients.
- Approve reports/certificates for release to the client.
- Perform monthly reviews of the commodity coordinators by presenting win/loss rates for proposals, revenue summaries, and a summary of client satisfaction/dissatisfaction rates to the Regional Manager monthly.
- Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by the direct line manager.
Minimum Requirements:
- National Diploma/Degree in Quality Management and/or Chemical Engineering – and/or 5 years proven experience in the sector or within the company in the functions, knowledge, skills, and experience sufficient to be recognized as a qualification through Recognition of Prior Learning.
- Languages: Proficiency in English (Read, Speak, Write).
