An established Flexible Packaging manufacturer based in Pinetown has a vacancy for a dynamic and experienced National Sales Manager to join the team.
Duties & Responsibilities
Purpose of the Role:
The Sales Manager is responsible for business development through personal sales and by leading the sales team. This role encompasses strategic and tactical, hands-on responsibilities: accelerating growth by increasing performance in existing channels and identifying new business opportunities for continued expansion. As a Division Head, you would be a member of the Senior Management Team, providing you with the opportunity to have a voice in setting long-term strategies, deployment of resources, and key priorities. You will manage recruiting, performance evaluation based on sales targets set, and facilitate the ongoing training of your salespeople.

Minimum Requirements
- Established and experienced in the flexible packaging market with direct face-to-face sales experience in flexible packaging related to printing and film laminations.
- Knowledgeable about different film types and structures based on applications (e.g., barrier films, Poly prop, PE's, PETs, CPPs).
- Understanding of film seal types such as fin seal, lap seal, pouch, etc.
- Experience in recruiting, training, and performance monitoring of sales teams.
- Ability to assist customers with packaging problems and solutions, as well as technical issues.
- Previous experience in a Sales Management or Senior Key Accounts Management role within the Packaging Manufacturing industries.
- Experience negotiating and dealing with customers at a senior level.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field.
- 5 years of experience in sales management.
- Proven track record of positive sales performance.
- Proven ability to lead a team to meet targets.
- Deep understanding of CRM systems and best practices.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to travel at least 25% of the time.
- Proven track record of sales success from plan to close.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Assess current team processes and procedures, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement them.
- Foster a competitive yet collaborative team environment through motivation, counseling, and product knowledge education.
- Assess individual performance through observation and measurement, and suggest corrective actions as needed.
- Achieve growth and hit sales targets by successfully managing the sales team.
- Build and promote strong, long-lasting customer relationships by partnering with them and understanding their needs.
- Manage and drive sales targets and budgets, as well as forecasting stock projections for customers.
- Work alongside Production and Technical Teams regarding new development and products to introduce to the market.
- Manage and oversee all new contracts and pricing structures for the Company.
- Achieve and improve the annual agreed targets to maximize profit (individual budgets versus actual sales achieved).
- Present detailed sales, revenue, and realistic forecasts to the management team.
- Identify emerging markets and market shifts while being fully aware of new products and competition status.
