To work as a member of the Band 5 dietetic team at St George's Hospital, Queen Mary's Hospital and community sites, with rotations every 6 months. To be responsible for providing a dietetic service to a variety of patient groups following evidence based practice, being an active multidisciplinary team member, educator, developing nutrition policies and guidelines, participating in audit and research in order to improve health outcomes and develop the role and service.
Main duties of the job
- To provide specialist, patient centred dietetic treatment plans to a range of inpatients , outpatients and community patients, according to specific clinical rotation.
- To work within the relevant MDT's and attend regular board rounds/MDT meetings
- To organise training and facilitate home enteral feeding discharges
- To autonomously manage inpatients requiring food first support, oral nutritional supplements and enteral tube feeding
- To work with the catering department to facilitate provision of meals for patients with special dietary requirements
- To provide training to ward staff on nutritional care and screening (HCA induction and development)
- To ensure flexible service delivery and provide clinical cover for colleagues within the band 5 team during periods of absence
- To support the training of student dietitians.

The wider dietetic department consists of over 60 dietitians, who provide clinical inpatient , outpatient and community services to a variety of specialties including oncology, renal, neurology, haematology, paediatrics, cardiology, major trauma, gastro, surgical, diabetes and infectious diseases. The department is committed to training dietetic students and actively participates in the training programmes of clinical and non-clinical staff.
