Job Description • Running the daily activities of the Boiler & Kiln operations at multiple Sawmill sites, including technical & maintenance
oversight.
• Ensure compliance of all plant, machinery and auxiliary equipment to relevant statutory health, safety and environmental legislation and regulations. As well as Company policies & procedures.
• Control of spare part inventories, and critical spares.
• Monitor and control costs.
• Manage training and development of departmental employees.
• Ensuring and improving the performance, productivity & efficiency.
• Managing all staff in accordance with labour laws and company policies
• Ensuring a high-level housekeeping standard in the department
Requirements
• Matric / NTC 3.
• Relevant technical experience and ability with tools and mechanical workings, if not trade tested.
• Strong experience in the operations of Boilers:
- General operations
- Technical experience
- Maintenance
- Regulations
• Experience in timber Kiln Drying would be advantageous:
- Kiln drying operations
- Schedules
- Quality Control
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a boiler operations environment.
• Experience in a saw milling environment will be preferred.
• Medically fit with sober habits.
• Proficient in MS Office skills in Excel & MS Outlook.
• Code EB license with own transport.
• Willing to work irregular hours and perform standby duties.
• Willing to work overtime, incl. weekends.
• Must be able to communicate in English (speak, read & write).
• Ability to communicate in Xhosa will be an added advantage.
