Job Description We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Technician OSP Construction (Civils and Fibre) with extensive experience in the telecommunications industry. This role involves overseeing and ensuring the quality, safety, and compliance of Outside Plant (OSP) and Fibre/Civils infrastructure implementation. The ideal candidate will be responsible for technical supervision, quality assurance, and ensuring that projects conform to industry standards and health and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities :
- Quality Control: Ensure the quality of OSP/Civils/Fibre infrastructure implementation conforms to Telecoms standards, technical specifications, and safety regulations.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure that all OSP and civils network infrastructure is installed according to health and safety guidelines, working closely with the Occupational Health and Safety (OHSA) representative.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks related to OSP/Fibre and civils infrastructure implementation, ensuring that projects meet timeline commitments.
- Deviation Assessment: Conduct deviation assessments and confirm deviation requests to ensure they meet technical standards.
- Contractor Quality Oversight: Monitor the quality of contractors’ service delivery, ensuring they meet technical requirements and standards.
- Technical Supervision: Oversee the control, supervision, and coordination of the City’s OSP/Civils/Fibre installations, ensuring they conform to telecom industry standards and plans.
- Testing & Inspection: Conduct regular testing and inspection of the civils network infrastructure to ensure operational efficiency and quality.
- Collaboration: Act as a technical expert for the City in collaborating with outsourced service providers to verify the quality of installations.
- Documentation: Ensure the accuracy and relevance of as-built information and documentation received from contractors.
Requirements
Qualifications :
- 3-year tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Telecommunications, or a related field.
- 5-8 years’ telecommunications industry experience, with at least 2 years as a senior technician in Telecoms OSP/Civils implementation.
- Certification from relevant professional body or authority for completed builds.
- Valid driver’s license and availability for 24/7 duty when required.
Skills and Experience :
- Strong technical expertise in monitoring and managing OSP, Fibre, and Civils infrastructure implementation.
- Knowledge of telecom industry standards, health and safety legislation, and quality assurance processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint.
- Ability to conduct site inspections, manage risk, and ensure contractor compliance with industry regulations.
- Strong leadership and collaborative skills to work effectively with internal and external teams.
