- The Project Manager

- must work in a team with other Project Managers within boundaries of strict project deadlines.

- Projects in our environment typically vary in duration between 3-6 months, 12 months, and the occasional 18+ month project occurring.
- The Project Manager must also be willing to do business travel to customer sites as per business requirements.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
FINANCIAL
- The Project Manager is responsible for managing the project budget. The project budget includes all costs required to successfully deliver the project e.g. team, hardware, licensing etc.
- Changes in baseline schedules, scope, cost or quality must be supported by the relevant documentation which resulted in the change as defined by the project change control process (RFC’s, enhancement requests etc.). The cost impact must be clearly documented and approved before out of baseline work is carried out
- The Project Manager is responsible for reporting on the project budget at the relevant project meetings. Reasons for budget variances must be clearly understood and communicated / escalated to the relevant persons
- Project managers are the custodians of the project methodology and ultimately responsible for the decisions taken in terms of project approach and delivery within the defined time, quality, and cost constraints. Any variances within the defined parameters must be clearly communicated /escalated to the relevant persons
CUSTOMER
- Customer Relations - Project Managers are required to ensure that the image of professionalism is portrayed to customers and that customer feedback supports this
- Documentation - Project Managers are expected to have good documentation skills. They must ensure that document content is clear, concise and unambiguous. Grammar and spelling must be acceptable, and language used must appropriate for a business environment
- Communication skills – Project Managers must speak in a clear, fluent and coherent manner. They must be able to articulate at different levels within the organization e.g. executive, management, team.
- Demonstrated history of delivering completed projects.
INTERNAL BUSINESS
- Delivery of all project artifacts specified in proposals / charters and required product and project documentation to sufficient level where stakeholders have a common understanding of requirements, eliminating ambiguity and discrepancies during the project lifecycle.
- Ensure that project documentation / artifacts reflecting the latest status are on a Project Portal, enabling stakeholders not involved in day-to-day activities of the projects to track events to current status.

- People Management
· The Project Manager must at all times know what the resources on their projects are doing and ensure that resources are performing the relevant project tasks as defined by the Project Manager in their schedules. The onus is on the Project Manager to follow up with resources to fulfill this requirement.
· The Project Manager must ensure that the relevant resource managers are updated timeously of resources that are either idle or incurring standing time
· Project Managers must employ techniques such as project leveling to ensure that there is maximum utilization of resources on projects.
· Project Managers are required to understand the technical solution of their projects to a level where they are able to communicate the components, relevant technologies, data flows, and functionality and associated risks relating to the solution
· The level of solution knowledge and task breakdown should be sufficient enough to enable Project Managers to visually confirm with developers that the tasks being performed are aligned to those in the project schedule
- The Project Manager must not avoid potential conflict situations to the detriment of the project. The Project Manager must address conflict effectively and seek support and escalate situations to the next level when necessary
LEARNING , GROWTH & INNOVATION
- The Project Manager must promote learnings within the organization by feeding back on lessons learnt and institutionalizing the learnings. Project artefacts and processes must be updated in accordance with the learnings
- The Project Manager will be responsible for ensuring that continuous project process improvement takes place by identifying areas of improvements and working with the Project Office to find efficient ways of doing things
FUNCTIONAL

Requirements KNOWLEDGE
QUALIFICATION / PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATIONS
- Grade 12 Senior Certificate (Matric)
- A relevant university degree or equivalent
- A relevant project management qualification / certification
EXPERIENCE
· Experience working as a Project Manager for minimum 5 years. Experience in managing projects involving Microsoft Web Technologies for more than 1 year.
· It would be advantageous to have experience in software development, system or business analysis for at least 1 year.
JOB SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
• Must be willing to work overtime when required.
