ob Summary:
We are seeking an Intermediate Accountant to join our dynamic financial firm in Newlands, Cape Town. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting background, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. This role requires a proactive individual who can manage financial records accurately and provide valuable insights to support our financial decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting: Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
General Ledger Management: Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner.
Accounts Payable and Receivable: Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoicing, payment processing, and collections.
Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, analyzing variances and providing insights for management decisions.
Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with local tax regulations, including preparation and submission of VAT returns and other tax-related documentation.
Audit Support: Prepare schedules and documentation for internal and external audits, assisting auditors as needed.
Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis and reporting to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings.
- Efiling / SARS: VAT Submissions, Payments, Disputes, Complaints, VAT Registrations & de- registrations
Account Reconciliation: Perform regular reconciliations of bank statements, supplier statements, and inter-company accounts.
Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements within accounting functions and implement best practices.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with other team members and departments to ensure seamless financial operations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in accounting or bookkeeping.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., PASTEL, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
