You can look forward to
Underwriting Treaty – Reinsurance underwriting functions; accurate use of rating tools, accurate capturing of treaty information monitoring of results of each contract in portfolio and employing corrective actions; attend broker/cedents meetings; acquiring of new profitable business.
Claims - Accurate and timeous analyses of claims received on daily basis; Manage the entire process for the relevant portfolio assigned within the procedures and guidelines; Refer all contentious claims to Manager and/or Legal & Compliance Officer; Raising necessary reserves
Client Relationship Management and Marketing – Familiarisation of marketing strategy and marketing programme of the unit and Company; Develop an annual marketing plan and interact regularly with clients.
Technical Account s– Use client relationships to assist the Treaty Accounting Services unit with any queries they might have on particular accounts.
Administration - Accurate capturing of all relevant treaty information , filing, file audits, liaise with Treaty Accounting Services to ensure that accounts are up to date and that cash is timeously being paid to us as per treaty agreements.
Stakeholder management – effectively communicate with the immediate team as well as the wider Treaty and business units. This includes managing relationships with the direct Manager, Senior Management, Underwriting Managing Agencies and Home office
You come equipped with
Undergraduate degree in a business and/or commercial or insurance Minimum 5 – 10 years’ experience in the short term insurance industry Experience in specialist line (s) in Property and Casualty underwriting with a focus in engineering, marine or property Working knowledge of underwriting principles, Financial knowledge, analytical experience. Proven track record in initiating and following through on projects Proven track record in dealing with national and international clients (special focus African continent) Strong technical skills and problem solving skills Ability to critically assess and review own work done and work independently Ability to pay attention to detail for accurate work Be accountable for deliverables within scope of work Reinsurance experience an advantage Proficient in English (speak, read, write)
Computer skills
Intermediate level MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint required. Beginner level Access and SQL and advantage.
