Role Description: We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Financial Manager to assume full accountability for all financial aspects of our business. The ideal candidate will be responsible for financial and statutory reporting, strategic and tactical financial decision-making, working capital management, and corporate activities relating to mergers and acquisitions. This role will also encompass project forecasting, tax and legal compliance, and budget management.
Key Job Responsibilities: - Support the execution of strategic financial decisions aligning with company goals.
- Develop financial and tax strategies to optimize the company’s position.
- Manage capital requests, budgets, and resources effectively.
- Implement corporate governance to ensure transparency and accountability.
- Oversee banking operations, working capital, and liquidity.
- Establish and maintain financial control systems to protect company assets.
- Ensure compliance with tax laws and manage the company’s tax regime.
- Prepare financial reports, management accounts, and business plans.
- Lead the external audit process and engage with the audit committee.
- Prepare integrated annual reports detailing financial performance and strategy.
- Establish forecasting procedures for cash flow, P&L, and balance sheet impact.
- Lead three-year forecasts and annual budgets at the business and group levels.
- Conduct monthly variance analysis, reporting to the CEO and Audit Committee.
- Manage cash balances and maintain accurate cash forecasts.
- Ensure tax compliance across all legal entities and timely tax filings.
- Mitigate financial risks and maintain adequate insurance coverage.
- Ensure legal and regulatory compliance in financial operations.
- Maintain thorough record-keeping for audits and government agencies.
- Foster relationships with external auditors and address recommendations.
- Stay informed on macroeconomic and cross-border issues affecting the business.
- Review and finalize monthly management journals and accounts.
- Oversee financial audits and reviews of revenue, expenses, and overall financial data.
Requirements and Qualifications: - Minimum 5 to 6 years of experience in financial management.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in managing staff or leading a team.
- Honours degree specializing in accounting; qualified CA(SA) preferred.
- Strong experience and knowledge of accounting up to balance sheet, including cash book, general ledger, trial balance, cash flow, and creditors.
- Experience working with Caseware software.
- Intermediate proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, and Excel is essential.
- Demonstrated practice of confidentiality and transparency in all financial dealings.
- Superb organizational, delegation, and administrative skills.
- Strong critical thinking abilities, demonstrating sound judgment and decision-making skills.
- Proactive problem-solving mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Good interpersonal skills with a strong emphasis on motivation and coaching abilities.
- Excellent English oral and written communication skills.
- Initiative in understanding the industry to make effective financial management decisions for the benefit of the company.
