Responsibilities
General: Day-to-Day
Project manage campaigns across branding, corporate communications, financialreporting, website development and digital communication, ensuring they are on brief, on time and on budget, taking them from concept to delivery Lead on a portfolio of accounts and manage day-to-day client communication Build and maintain strategic relationships with key client stakeholders at all levels Understand your client’s business and objectives; input strategically to develop creative briefs Work-flow management; liaise with Creative Directors (CDs), creatives and suppliers.
Ownership of the Brief & Briefing Process
Understand each client’s business needs and objectives Review the brief with client and ask any questions to formulate the brief; to interrogate, challenge and unpack, not simply to take what client says as definitive Write the brief; ensure all necessary elements (intention, message, brand assets, desired outcome, production specifications, budget, timeframe, and deadline) are clearly recorded and understood by all parties Confirm the brief with client Understand what designers need to complete the job; retrieve and collate these from client.
Liaising with the Creative Team
Brief studio and respond to their questions; provide answers or proactively go back to client to get the answers Schedule projects into studio; allocate design hours according to budget; manage timeframes effectively Review work to ensure the brief is strategically answered Set up CD and client reviews; provide a project plan Make sure the work gets done (if not in-house, then with a suitable freelancer) Complete strict quality control checks to ensure amends have been input correctly; mark up those missed by client.
Liaising with Client
Be the professional first point of contact with client; manage day-to-day communication Interpret client needs and manage their expectations Take notes in meetings; communicate these back to client and creative to ensure everyone is on the same page Write articulate emails Respond timeously Be accessible on a phone through working hours (including WhatsApp, email, Slack) Be sales driven; develop future business.
Work-Flow Management
Work with multiple projects simultaneously Coordinate your projects with those managed by CDs; together adjust schedules as needs dictate Draft, manage, communicate, and deliver on a project plan Join the weekly status with CDs Participate in quick daily status reviews on Slack to note changes to scheduling Get the job done!
Quotes & Costings
Write cost proposals; get POs Keep our cost proposal templates up to date as unique examples are drafted Maintain budget trackers where required Manage expenses throughout each project including time spent on project management, design (in-house and external) and production so that the project is delivered profitably Contain time over-runs; manage client expectations Coordinate billing with the bookkeeper; send invoices on time Review timesheets so clients aren’t overcharged Make sure your timesheets are updated daily (weekly at absolute minimum).
New Business
Respond timeously to all new business queries Not only draft and send cost proposals for new requests but be sales-focussed , promote the agency with articulate cover letters and supporting credentials documents.
Requirements
The successful candidate must have/be:
Industry relevant tertiary qualification Demonstrable experience of delivering as an Account Manager in an agency environment – essential Minimum 2-3 years Advertising/Brand agency experience Experience working in branding, corporate communications, website development Hands-on delivery experience and stakeholder management Excellent communication skills, both written and verbally A pro-active attitude and readiness to get stuck in A big picture thinker, not a paper pusher Strategic understanding of messaging Aptitude and capacity to learn about new industries and areas of business High EQ, confidence, and communication skills Planning and organisational skills Strong attention to detail A solid understanding of our product , the design process (branding, reporting, email/ digital campaigns, and website development) Ability to think like the client; review work from a strategic / messaging point of view Strategic thinking skills Resilience; to be unflappable in times of crisis or conflict An entrepreneurial spirit The ability to work within a fast-paced environment Problem solving skills; to think on your feet and adapt to change effectively Self-motivation A team player A keen sense of numbers Strong expense/profit management skills.
