Job Title: Principal Civil Engineer – Stormwater Modelling and Urban Water Design
Location: Pretoria, South Africa
Hire Resolve’s client is currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Civil Engineer to join their team in Pretoria. This position offers an excellent opportunity for professional growth of a senior engineer and the chance to work on challenging projects in stormwater modelling and water urban design. The successful candidate will play a key role in the design and delivery of engineering solutions for water and urban infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities:
Proficient in urban stormwater management, flood risk assessments, hydraulic analysis, and the design of urban water engineering solutions. Specific expertise in urban flood modeling and analysis, open channel flow hydraulics, flood protection and erosion control measures, stormwater design, and master planning. Experience in and an understanding of the importance of nature-based solutions for enhancing flood resilience and adaptation. Excellent skills in writing technical reports, including the ability to clearly communicate complex information, analyze data effectively, and present findings in a comprehensive and organized manner. Highly effective in planning and managing time to ensure efficient completion of tasks and projects. Exhibits strong interpersonal and networking skills, fostering positive and collaborative relationships with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders, ultimately contributing to a thriving and productive work environment. An understanding of Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) as an engineering design approach that integrates various elements of the urban water cycle. Extensive experience in hydrological and hydraulic modeling (1D and 2D) and geospatial analysis software. Strong project management skills, including financial and time management, people management, and experience with Quality Management Systems (QMS) in a consulting environment. Occasional short-term project visits to African and Middle Eastern countries may be required.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (BSc/BEng) in Civil Engineering or related field minimum but Master’s degree is preferred Professional registration with the ECSA Minimum of 10 years of experience in stormwater modelling and water urban design or related fields Advanced knowledge of industry software for stormwater modelling and analysis Excellent communication and presentation skills Ability to build and maintain client relationships Experience in preparing and reviewing technical reports and specifications
