RCL FOODS is currently recruiting for a SENIOR QUALITY ASSURANCE TECHNOLOGIST (QAT) to join the Speciality (Ambient) Business Unit in the Quality Control Department based in CENTURION . The successful incumbent will need to maintain the Quality and Food Safety Management Systems and ensure the correct quality standard as well as enhance the department and organisation reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Minimum Requirements BSc Food Science or BTech in Food Technology. A minimum of 5 years food processing (FMCG) experience A minimum of 5 years in a similar role Minimum of 2 - 3 years in a supervisory/management role in QA Knowledge and understanding of QA systems TQM Knowledge. Internal Audit and HACCP training including ISO systems (FSSC 22 000, ISO 22 000) Food manufacturing quality management system. Mature individual Industry Standards National Legislation Statutory Requirements Plants and Process Operations Working knowledge of organizations strategies; policies, customer products and supply chain operations Duties & Responsibilities Accomplishes quality assurance human resource objectives by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counselling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; enforcing policies and procedures. Achieves quality assurance operational objectives by contributing information and analysis to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; identifying and resolving problems; completing audits; determining system improvements; implementing change. Meets quality assurance financial objectives by estimating requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions. Develops quality assurance plans by conducting hazard analyses; identifying critical control points and preventive measures; establishing critical limits, monitoring procedures, corrective actions, and verification procedures; monitoring inventories. Validates quality processes by establishing product specifications and quality attributes; measuring production; documenting evidence; determining operational and performance qualification; writing and updating quality assurance procedures. Maintains and improves product quality by completing product, company, system, compliance, and surveillance audits; investigating customer complaints; collaborating with other members of management to develop new product and engineering designs, and manufacturing and training methods. Prepares quality documentation and reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends including failed processes, stability studies, recalls, corrective actions, and re-validations. Updates job knowledge by studying trends in and developments in quality management; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations. Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. Maintain and develop the HACCP system Improving customer relationships. Responsible for plant audits and customer complaints (CC) Monitor and investigate all customer complaints and returns. Assist SHEQ Coordinator with maintaining and updating contractual, regulatory and internal specifications. Liaise with management on non-conforming issues. Controlling all functions associated with the raw material inspection and reporting of non-conformances to the QA manager. Reporting on Compliance and Regulatory standards. Assist with the implementation and maintenance of ISO 22 000/FSSC 22 000 Compiles and maintains internal audit schedules ensuring high risk areas are prioritized Arranges audits with relevant managers to ensure participation and clear communication Communicates audit findings to management Arrange follow up audits with relevant managers Verifies audit findings are actioned and closed effectively Compares internal audit findings against external audit findings to identify gaps Maintains internal audit system data and integrity Understands the criteria required for external audits across all divisions Participates in audits Ensure audit findings are actioned and closed effectively Completes reports and distribute to relevant managers and role players Completes monthly reports on compliance issues and progress Compile, present and preparing yearly Management Review presentations / minutes Compile, conducting and preparing monthly Food Safety Meetings / minutes Assist with NPD trials & feedback Compile product specification, quality contracts and pack line sheets Conducting PPC Audits Managing and developing QA Staff Identify training needs and assist with arranging training Assist with systems training where possible Assist SQA Department with supplier / service provider audits
