Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented QC -Welding Inspector to ensure the quality and compliance of welding processes and products for a site hydraulic pipe installation project. The ideal candidate will conduct thorough inspections, maintain accurate records, and contribute to the continuous improvement of welding procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspecting Welds:
Utilize industry-appropriate methods to inspect welds, comparing them to standards and specifications.
Perform manual inspections of welds to ensure high-quality workmanship.
Compliance and Standards:
Ensure the assembly or production line adheres to welding standards, procedures, and legal requirements.
Verify that welds comply with AWS D1.1 and other relevant welding standards.
Blueprints and Specifications:
Review blueprints and specifications to compare against produced goods.
Execute proper procedures to inspect welds based on engineering drawings and radiographs.
Quality Database Management:
Record inspection results by completing reports, summarizing re-works, and inputting data into the quality database.
Collect and compile statistical quality data for analysis.
Training and Process Improvement:
Train the production team on quality control measures to enhance product excellence.
Propose improvements to the welding and production processes.
Equipment Monitoring:
Monitor the use of equipment to ensure safety and discard any that do not meet requirements.
Ensure all equipment is calibrated correctly and initiate repairs when necessary.
Safety Protocols and Research:
Develop safety protocols for welding inspections.
Research and evaluate existing welding methods and practices for best practices.
Requirements and Skills:
- Grade 12, Tech or Trade School completion preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in a metal fabrication or inspection-related role.
- Welding Material Certificate Compulsory:
- Certification in NDT Level II VT and MT and/or CWI is required.
- Knowledge of welding standards, especially AWS D1.1.
- Training in Welding Technology is desired.
- Experience in manufacturing inspection processes.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or in a team.
- Strong organizational skills and a methodical approach to work.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Detail-oriented, with the ability to read and interpret drawings, BOMs, and shop details.
- Proficient in using a personal computer.
- Strong commitment to safety and a good attendance record.
