Business Development Manager
Well-established, market leading steel supplier based in Gauteng is looking a Business Development Officer who will be responsible for developing and implementing the Company sales and marketing strategy to achieve challenging growth targets.
The role reports to the MD and will be a key member of the executive team delivering shareholder value and achieving the company’s business goals.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for achieving aggressive revenue targets through the following:
- Together with the executive management team, develop the medium- and long-term go-to-market strategy including process of customer acquisition.
- Growing the company’s footprint into new markets, regions and products.
- Developing strategic partnerships with major consumers of flat steel products in South Africa in line with the overall business strategy and revenue targets.
- Acquiring and processing key market information to enhance strategic decision making.
- Develop the Revenue Budget per target sector, region and product lines.
- Responsible for achieving revenue targets.
- Hands-on approach to motivating and developing a sales team in executing the company’s sales strategy.
- Oversee a data driven approach to setting of pricing and product portfolio strategy by leading rigorous market research initiatives to support these decisions.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree at minimum, with an Engineering / other technical Degree a big advantage.
- Primary steel products, preferably including flat carbon steel (hot rolled coil and hot rolled plate).
- Over 15 years’ of proven leadership experience, with previous company-wide commercial sales and marketing responsibility within the steel industry.
- Successful track record of implementing a commercial sales strategy and achieving multi-year double digit revenue growth in a related steel sector in South Africa.
- Proven exposure to leading a team of 5-10 sales team members.
- Superior proficiency in using Excel and other Microsoft Office product.
- Excellent knowledge and experience with using electronic marketing and lead generation tools.
Remuneration:
- R1,000,000 to R1,500,000 p.a. Cost To Company depending on qualifications and experience.
