Commercial
Job Purpose
- To analyse & interpret internal and external data and use it to build compelling stories that clearly highlight areas of opportunity and threat for Company to deliver market intelligence and sustainable growth in brand equity, sales volume, market share, competitive advantage, and corporate reputation.
- To play a key role in coordinating the process and timely delivery of new product development across all Private Label and Distributors brands.
Key Accountabilities and Outputs
- Market Data Management
- Compile, analyse, interpret, and present sales, market share and market data.
- Sharing market knowledge with internal customers and, at times, external customers.
- Coordinating monthly reports and internal reporting.
- Manage, measure & report product distribution & availability.
- Compile monthly price survey tracking with regions.
- Managing outsourced syndicated data service providers and ROI on these.
- Drive analysis of consumer, category, and customer information to develop compelling business building recommendations to customers.
- Market data currently includes:
- Internal Sales Data
- Nielsen scan data (including PFM channel)
- Nielsen Consumer Panel data
- Massmart data via Tableau
- BMi Data
- Executrac
- Other ad-hoc sources of external data
- Trade Marketing Support & Administration
- Coordinating trade marketing activities and tools, monthly reports, and internal reporting.
- Support Trade Marketing with day-to-day tasks, such as:
- Listings & Speed to Market measurement
- Development of Pricing Strategy
- Share of Voice reporting
- Portfolio Analysis
- Customer Review development
- Development & Refining of In-Trade Execution Guidelines
- Development of Trade Toolkits, inclusive of NPD Trade Presenters
- Consumer and Shopper Propositions derived through insight and category analysis.
- Coordination of all POS requirements for specific campaigns related to channel plans by brand.
- NPD Project Coordination & Process Management
- Coordinating all new product development projects across (a) all Private Label brands, and (b) the external portfolio
- Ensuring all NPD team members are clear on the status of each project, as well as the actions required in order to deliver projects on time
- Internal communication around NPD projects, such as ensuring production plants are clear on requirements, and managing project master data
- Preparation of all data required for Gate Documents
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelors Degree (3 years) / NQF level 7
- Previous experience in working with scan data (Nielsen/IRI) essential
- Strong analytical skills & attention to detail
- Understanding of FMCG trade
- Collaborates internally and externally
- Developed IT and presentation skills
