BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER (FMCG)
Reporting to the Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) Business Development Manager, this position is required to operate in the FMCG business development and tender environment, but also provide project and operation support where critical interventions are required. This position will also gradually take over the role of Key Account Manager (KAM) from the BD Mgr. for some local Clients.
The position will be based in Paarl in the Western Cape, but a substantial amount of business related traveling would be required.
CRITICAL PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES
• To identify, extract and develop business opportunities and projects in the FMCG market sector in Southern Africa.
• To work closely with Clients to develop these opportunities from basic concept stage all the way to engineered solutions with fixed and firm capital and operational costs for order placement. o The position requires that basic design and costing of smaller/budget projects be prepared in isolation for review and submittal,
o or working in design & tender teams for larger and fixed and firm proposals.
• To accurately convey the project scope and Client requirements to the project execution team, to ensure alignment of expectations (both internal & external) at all times during the project execution and aftersales phase.
• To fulfil the role of Key Account Mgr. for selected Clients. o This requires being the primary point of contact and an ambassador for the respective accounts.
o Regular interfacing with clients either in person on the factory floor, or remotely to understand their shifting needs.
• To identify and develop relationships with new Clients and in so doing, expanding footprint in the FMCG market sector.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
• Bachelors of Process/Chemical Engineering Degree (Post Graduate qualification will be beneficial)
• Four years or more of working experience in the engineering environment. Preferably, with project execution experience in the FMCG market sector.
• Experience in the water/effluent treatment, project execution and costing environment will be highly advantageous
• Highly proficient in MS Excel, Word & PowerPoint. Capable of developing project costings and proposals for review with little to no assistance.
• The successful candidate must be autonomous, highly motivated and driven with exceptional interpersonal skills. They must be able to work as an individual or in teams.
• The ability to travel on short notice is essential.
• Candidates with MBA qualification need not apply.
