Top engineering firm seeks piping engineer. Design pipes for watertube boilers.
Non-Negotiables (We will check)
Must have 3 -5 years experience either with BS806, BSEN13480, ASME B31.1 including stress analysis using Caesar II. Or equivalent experience. Experience with class III piping systems in accordance with the PER and SANS 347. Or equivalent experience. Power plant piping or industrial steam piping experience required. The candidate must preferably be ECSA registered (Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng). If not they must be working towards Professional registration.
What the person must be able to do:
This role is in the South African power generation industry. All duties would take place in this context.
Design, maintenance engineering and rehabilitation engineering of the following typical systems:
Water piping systems that feed Watertube boilers Water piping systems inside the Watertube boiler. These are high intensity steam pipes. High pressure and high heat. PF Piping Miscellaneous air, oil and water piping Boiler vessels and tanks
Key Job Deliverables (First 6-12 Months):
Take a leading role in the piping design side of significant power station projects. this includes: Accurate and error-free calculations. Approval of calculationsCreating functional and practical designs. Includes execution issues such as procurement, manufacture, construction, commissioning and operation.Guiding and mentoring juniors. Management of the Design team.
Background work experience
Strong preference for Professional Engineer or Professional Technologist. If not must be about to register with ECSA. 3-5 years piping design experience in high pressure/heat environments (Class III). More experience is strongly advantageous. Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSc, BEng or BTech) Proven track record in piping design (we will check references) Strong interpersonal skills

Salary: Market Related. In the Range of R40K to R60K per month. . Negotiable for exceptional candidates.
