We invite suitably qualified candidates to apply for the Security Manager position within the Industrialisation Department . The position will report to the Head of Industrialisation and is based in Dunnottar, Nigel (Gauteng Province).
Job Purpose
Manage all aspects of security operations and ensure that policies and procedures are in place to secure company assets and provide a safe environment for employees, contractors and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Liaisons and stakeholder management:
Manage the relationship with security service providers and suppliers. Ensure enforcement of the SLA for the security contract. Managing project delivery and handling responsibility for the security guard force performance. Build relationships with local Law enforcement authorities. Work collaboratively with Contractor’s Security Operations in multiple sites. Focal point for local municipality emergency departments. Liaisons with Alstom SA Risk Security Team.
Maintain Standards and Regulations (Development of policies and procedures):
Maintain Standards and Regulations (Development of policies and procedures). Develop and implement policies and standard operating procedures to safeguard assets and resources. Ensure security protocols and regulations are in place for protection of employees across all Gibela sites. Ensure company adheres to set standards to mitigate security risks. Verify that documents required to enforce policies and procedures (SOPs, access control procedures, site security plans, site security charters, waste management procedure, etc) are in place, updated and implemented. Implement Gibela waste management procedure (with specific attention to valuable rejected items) in close collaboration with EHS, Production and Finance. Provide advice and guidance on legislatives compliance, emerging issues, risk and the implementation of changes required on policy matters. Lead and plan special operations with the in-house investigating unit. Plan and coordinate special security operations with the South African Police Services. Implementing occupational health and safety standards. Conducting riot control activities.
Compliance and Monitoring (Auditing and Risk Assessments):
Conduct frequent on-site evaluations of the security processes and equipment (installations at all sites including, but not limited to, guard operations, alarm systems, access control, CCTV and recording equipment, and perimeter control) and implement action items where deviations have occurred. Conduct risk assessments and ensure that the site security facilities and installations are operational 24/7. Follow-up on performance, availability and quality of all equipment, security providers based on defined KPIs. Manage operational planning including emergency and disaster management. Develop ways to detect safety issues and security violations and put programs in place to prevent reoccurrences. Investigate security threats and developed mechanisms for emergency response. Lead and train emergency response team at each location. Produce security plans for each location and implement physical protection measures.
Contract Management and Reporting:
Provide management with written reports of deficiencies and incidents. Propose security solutions in order to mitigate on site security risk. Monthly monitor security operational costs and participate in the budgeting process. Ensure KPIs are in place to measure the performance of service providers. Define security requirements for the business and outline terms and conditions in the selection service providers.
Risk Management and Surveillance:
Inspect and audit facilities, and equipment to ensure that gaps are identified and resources adequate for the protection of employees and assets. Providing security education and awareness for employees. Co-ordinate and administer security clearances. Deploy relevant technology for surveillance and detection. Conduct investigation on missing assets, tools or equipment. Provide technical advice on requirements and specifications for strengthening existing and new security system and processes. Co-ordinate security risk and threat assessments to ensure those relevant measures to counter the threats. Apply specialist incident investigation techniques to specific incidents. Travel advisory for employees travelling to high-risk destinations. Maintain oversight of command centre and ensure minimum downtime of surveillance equipment. Assess training needs and ensure guards are trained to handle complaints. Conducting security threat analysis to understand business vulnerability to security problems. Planning contingencies and outlining movement planning strategies.
Minimum Requirements
Experience in law enforcement intelligence. Experience using relevant technology and equipment ( CCTV, Drones). Investigative background. Extensive knowledge of facility and security management in a complex environment. Ability to manage contracts, security risk management from an operations point of view. Experience in Surveillance Management, Tactical Protection plans and Risk Audits. Ability to manage service provider on-site teams. A postgraduate qualification in Risk, Law or Forensic Sciences or equivalent (NQF Level 8) is an added advantage.
Special Requirements
Minimum of 10 years proven experience as a security manager or similar position of a complex organisation in an industrial or operational environment. Candidate must have a clear criminal record. A strong knowledge of access control systems, CCTV equipment and investigations. Driver’s Licence, Firearm Licence. Professional membership of industry body PSIRA.
