A large consulting company with offices across South Africa and internationally are looking to hire a Senior Engineer/Technologist specialising in Geometric Design.
This is an opportunity to work on some of the world’s largest roads projects.
Minimum requirements:
•BEng/BSc/BTech in Civil Engineering from an accredited University/University of Technology.
•Professional registration with ECSA essential.
•Minimum 8 - 10 years of professional experience in transportation infrastructure with a strong background in geometric or transportation design.
•Working knowledge of Bentley MicroStation, Open Roads Design Software as well as Civil3D.
•Interest and/or experience with BIM systems would be advantageous.
•Knowledge of the commercial aspects of project management.
•Knowledge of QA and OHS requirements.
•Experience in Government standards, codes, and documentation
Your responsibilities will include:
•Responsible for the general management of medium/large transportation infrastructure projects.
•Assist with and manage budgets, resourcing and outsourcing of work within the function group and agree project budgets with other function groups.
•Clear knowledge of work procedures and ability to brief project team on them.
•Ensure appropriate technical standards and Quality Assurance Management System requirements are maintained on projects.
•Ensuring all projects are adequately resourced in terms of capabilities and specialists.
•Ensure that projects are completed within time and budget.
•Supervise Engineers or Technicians in undertaking checks and inspections of constructed works for compliance with design and specifications, including monitoring and proposing remedial actions.
•Train others in respective functional field and build a team.
•Assign and check work of all those in the project team and take responsibility for their work.
•Author competent technical reports of acceptable technical and presentational quality.
•Make/ensure technical decisions are outcome driven.
•Market technical capability.
•Development and/or improvement of function group specific design procedures.
•Plan and coordinate investigations and surveys.
•Adopt a proactive approach to prevent costly mistakes.
•Review Professional Service Provider Bid Documents - identify commercial and financial risks.
•Realistically estimate pricing/timing associated with projects within their area of expertise.
•Submission of tenders and proposals for the function group.
•Win and deliver projects for the function group.
•Regular client contact under direction of senior manager supervision.
•Develop and maintain key client relationships while maintaining client satisfaction.
•Successful in identifying and following through on leads associated with additional work prospects on the projects they are involved with.
•Clear understanding of local functional business technologies and markets.
