Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Civil Engineering Project Manager to join our client’s team in Springbok. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in the design and review of civil engineering projects, encompassing water, sanitation, roads, stormwater, and building structures.
Responsibilities:
Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation. Oversee the execution of civil engineering projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to established timelines and quality standards. Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to facilitate smooth project progression. Conduct detailed design and review of civil engineering projects, encompassing water supply systems, sanitation facilities, road networks, stormwater management, and building structures. Utilize engineering principles and software tools to optimize project designs and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Manage all aspects of contracts related to civil engineering projects, including procurement, negotiations, and contract administration. Monitor contractor performance and compliance with contractual obligations, implementing corrective measures as necessary to mitigate risks and ensure project success. Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing inquiries, providing updates, and managing expectations throughout the project lifecycle. Collaborate with clients to identify their specific needs and objectives, translating requirements into actionable project plans and deliverables. Implement rigorous quality control measures to uphold the integrity and safety of civil engineering projects. Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify deficiencies, non-conformities, and opportunities for improvement, taking proactive steps to address issues and maintain compliance with regulatory standards. Provide leadership and guidance to project teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. Mentor junior staff members, offering technical expertise and professional development support to facilitate their growth within the organization.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree (BTech/BEng) in Civil Engineering or related field. Registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as a Professional Engineer or Technologist. Proven experience in the design and review of civil engineering projects, including water supply systems, sanitation facilities, roads, stormwater management, and building structures. Demonstrated proficiency in contract and project management, with a track record of successfully delivering complex projects on time and within budget. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders. Sound knowledge of relevant industry regulations, standards, and best practices. Exceptional problem-solving abilities and attention to detail, with a commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment. Flexibility to travel to project sites and work occasional overtime as required.
