ENVIRONMENT:
A dynamic IT Services Provider in Durban seeks a Business Development Manager, a sales pro with a proven track record in IT services sales. They need a seasoned individual who excels at creating and managing relationships, driving revenue growth, and contributing to the company’s expansion plan. This sales leader should have extensive expertise in IT operations, outsourcing, and customized IT solutions, along with a background in IT services sales and strong business acumen. They must have at least 7 years of sales experience, with a minimum of 3 years in SMB IT services sales, and a good understanding of cloud technologies, private cloud migrations, and SaaS offerings like M365. DUTIES: Responsible for growing the client base and revenues (recurring outsourced services based) in the SMB market – where the company has a strong brand and regional reputation for delivering high quality Managed Services Responsible for building and maintaining a strong pipeline, connecting with, and building strong relationships with IT and business executives, closing sales, and coordinating resources of subject matter experts at the company who will support the sale and help build momentum towards closing deals. Lead efforts to acquire new clients through direct individual prospecting and sales activities. This includes, but is not limited to prospect identification and research, penetrating new accounts through direct prospecting activities and proper qualification of potential business opportunities. Develop high level executive relationships with true decision makers, key officers and directors at new prospective clients and maintain high-level relationships with clients to facilitate recurring client revenues and referrals Stay current on IT trends and provide credible knowledge and understanding of IT to client personnel at the executive and managerial levels Expand awareness of the company’s IT outsourcing and consulting capabilities. This includes but is not limited to active involvement in professional associations, professional speaking engagements, thought leadership, etc. Work with Sales Management to develop plans and activities that create and accelerate awareness, interest, and conversion (interest/enthusiasm and recommendations from influencers and revenues from prospects/clients) Work with marketing and service delivery operations and provide feedback to both teams as needed Being seen as a key producer in the company and a part of the overall team, rapidly earning respect internally by seeing the bigger picture Demonstrated knowledge of the company’s portfolio and service offerings; understands how to leverage through client’s entire business Build an extensive portfolio of service-related opportunities by identifying and anticipating processes and functions to improve client operations and/or cut expenses; involves identifying recurring revenue business opportunities, selling concepts to the client where required REQUIREMENTS: Minimum of at least 7 years (preferably 10+) of overall sales experience with at least 3 years selling IT services in the SMB space. Understanding and experience with cloud technologies, private cloud migrations, and cloud providers’ SaaS offerings e.g., M365. General knowledge of datacentre facilities and infrastructure, including software capabilities of vendors such as VMware, Veaam Understanding and experience of the challenges faced by SMBs’ IT organizations, and a thorough understanding of the strategies and tactics that can be taken to do address them.
