PURPOSE:
Responsible for ensuring that an organization complies with all applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations, as well as implementing policies and procedures to prevent accidents and minimize environmental impact.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and implement HSE policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations
- Conduct risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions
- Investigate incidents and accidents, and develop plans to prevent recurrence
- Develop and provide training on HSE policies and procedures
- Collaborate with management and employees to promote a safety culture
- Maintain health and safety files for plants
- Monitor and report on HSE performance metrics
- Review contractor HSE files
- Ensure compliance with OHS Act, Environmental Legislation, and other relevant regulations
- Manage and coordinate emergency response plans and procedures
- Liaise with external parties, such as regulatory bodies and consultants
- Work effectively with internal and external
stakeholders, to accomplish organisational goals and identify and resolve
problems
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety , Environmental Science, or related field
- Minimum 5 years' experience in HSE management
- Experience in a similar role in operations and maintenance for Solar PV power plants or Construction Site
- Relevant certification, such as SAMTRAC, NEBOSH, or ISO 45001
- Strong knowledge of South African HSE regulations and standards
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to analyze data and develop effective solutions
- Registration with the South African Council for Project and Construction
- Strong leadership and management skills
- Knowledge of international HSE standards and best practices
- Experience with auditing and management systems (e.g. ISO 45001, ISO 14001)
- Valid driver's license.
