A large renewables company with offices around the world is looking for a Sales Director.
The Sales Director will Drive the company’s growth in South Africa and will be responsible for leading commercial efforts. They will bring forth the best solar and energy efficiency solutions by identifying sales leads, pitch services to new clients and driving customer discussion towards signed contracts. The role involved careful strategic planning, understanding of regulations, and market intelligence
Minimum requirements:
•Engineering/Science degree or alternatively Commercial degree at master’s level.
•8-10 years professional experience, Business Development experience on high value sales and contract negotiations in South Africa, ideally within the solar industry.
•Minimum 10 years’ experience in Business Management or Project Development in C&I and/or utility scale Solar PV sector; ideally with a solar developer or EPC.
•Familiar with computerized SCADA systems, maintenance management systems, and CRM processes and structure.
•Strong understanding of and experience with project management and project finance.
•Experience in business plan and budget preparation and management.
•Excellent network within the South African Commercial and Industrial segments and in the solar industry (e.g., solar developers, EPCs).
•Strong working knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
Your responsibilities will include:
•Conduct market research and identify key commercial and industrial customers for distributed solar projects, solar hybrid projects and energy efficiency systems.
•Develop an in-depth knowledge of the company’s products and value proposition to negotiate with stakeholders.
•Build relevant relationships with customers, EPCs, commercial partners, service providers, regulators, and financial institutions.
•Create and maintain a strong pipeline based on the business plan and achievement of target per annum.
•Nurture and retain relationships with key customer accounts and contractors - identify and map business strengths and customer needs.
•Maintain database of clients (referrals, RFPs, prospects) in the CRM system.
•Negotiate and close agreements with customers and hand them over to the Project Manager.
•Assist in overcoming potential technical and political barriers along the way.
•Support in hiring a talented sales team with the help of the company’s support teams.
