Lead Buyer Subsystems (Fixed Term – 6 months)

We invite suitably qualified candidates to apply for the fixed term Lead Buyer Subsystems position within the Sourcing Department . The position will report to the Manager Sourcing Subsystems and is based in Dunnottar, Nigel (Gauteng Province).
Job Purpose
The purpose of the role for the incumbent to be involved in the deployment of the commodities strategy. Ensure project execution in line with QCDT objectives. Support global supplier panel relationship (Supplier workload, negotiation, Specific agreement).
Key Responsibilities
Supplier relationship:
Identification of project and business needs. Preparation and launch of Request for Quotation with suppliers using standard tools. Negotiation of cost reduction with suppliers. Inputs provider/contributor for order placement. Ensure Quality, Cost, Delivery & Economic Development targets achieved, CONQ (Cost of Non-Quality) & claims management. Lead supplier Quality, Cost, Delivery & Economic Development performance reviews. Collaborate with Internal stakeholders, Facilitate and Manage Quality, Cost, Delivery and Technical Performance reviews. Monitor and develop supplier performance and collaborate to improve quality. Development/management of strategic supplier relationship. Manage supplier performance review and supplier scorecard. Develop and maintain business communication with suppliers regarding their concerns. Develop and sustain professional and positive relationships with both internal & external stakeholders and suppliers. Management of initial issues before escalation to the Sourcing Manager. Respect Gibela code of ethics and guidelines accordingly.
Commodity support:
Consolidation of commodity needs and inputs. Active participation to commodity strategy and panel elaboration. Represent the commodities towards projects, platforms and solutions. Effective teamwork with internal customers and stakeholders in problem solving. Apply the Gibela Sourcing process and provide return on experience. Identify procurement risks, opportunities and market forces to avoid potential damage/ exploit potential opportunities through tailored risk management and change management.
Involvement in projects:
Closely work with sourcing project representatives (internal customer). Ensure work package commitment respect. Ensure QCD & ED targets. Ensure QCDT targets. Lead assigned sourcing projects and drives them to successful completion, including market analysis, RFQ process, negotiations, contract creation, and contract management. Help to develop category strategies with relevant Sourcing Manager/Commodity Manager. Drive cost-saving initiatives to align with company goals. Adhere to budgetary constraints.. Evaluate supplier capabilities, cost structure, risks, and potential partnership. Drive supplier scorecards / ratings on an ongoing basis to measure supplier performance.
Procurement activities:
Place the purchase orders in SAP. Manage and update Info Records to facilitate call off management. Contract maintenance on SAP. Creation of suppliers in the system. Ensure availability of spares required for maintenance. Manage consignment stock coverage for trains in warranty. Supplier database coverage for all indirect scopes. Obtain pricing for spare parts on time. Turnaround of PO placement within scope. Price exclamation done on time. Ensure compliance to PPA (technical and ED obligations). Perform none compliance escalated contractually. Implement claims for none performance instituted . Finance - No degradation to LCC resulting from second source supplier onboarding. Consolidate and report on delivery against savings targets for commodities.
Minimum Requirements
National Diploma in Logistics or equivalent. BS or BCom in Supply Chain, Finance, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, Information Technology or another business-related field. Minimum 6-10 years of experience in Procurement /Strategic Sourcing. Purchasing professional background and/or Quality /supply chain/technical background. Rail industry and related manufacturing experience will be an advantage.
Special Requirements
Structured and organised with Hands-on approach. English basics in read/writing. Good communication skills: verbal and written English. Computer Literate - MS Office packages. Attention to detail and strong mechanical technical understanding.
