ENVIRONMENT:
Our client operates as a development company with offices in Stellenbosch and Johannesburg, specializing in the advancement of state-of-the-art agricultural technologies. They are currently in search of an IT Manager to join their team in Johannesburg. The main responsibility of the IT Manager is to lead the IT department in aligning technological solutions with business objectives, optimizing IT processes, ensuring the security and integrity of data, and providing technical support to end-users. This role plays a crucial role in maintaining a stable and secure IT environment to enhance overall business productivity. A bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is required, along with relevant certifications such as ITIL, PMP, CISSP, or equivalent. DUTIES: Hardware: Wireless APs, routers and ISP configuration IT asset management and procurement (laptops & screens) Boardroom video conferencing Software: Employee IT support (Windows and Linux) Online subscription management (bitwarden & Xero invoicing) Employee software access for on-boarding & off-boarding AWS billing optimisations (reserved instances, unused infra) Google Workspace management & security hardening Integration of boardroom booking systems into Google workspace Laptop backups & security ISP support, e.g., troubleshoot connectivity issues or degraded internet performance Microsoft Office Subscriptions Optional and more Company specific, but this role could expand into: On-prem installs of the company’s ’Software Security pen testing of the company’s software ICT management for clients (VPN management, cabling, backup power, security, VM management) Strategic Planning: Develop and implement IT strategies aligned with organisational goals. Assess and recommend emerging technologies that can enhance business operations. Team Leadership: Supervise and lead a team of IT professionals, providing guidance and fostering a collaborative work environment. Conduct regular performance evaluations and mentorship to support team development. Infrastructure Management: Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the organisation’s IT infrastructure. Ensure the availability, reliability, and performance of critical systems and networks. Security and Compliance: Establish and enforce security policies and procedures to safeguard organizational data. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards. Technical Support: Provide technical assistance and support to end-users, troubleshooting hardware and software issues. Implement and manage helpdesk systems to streamline support processes. Budget Management: Develop and manage the IT budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and ROI on technology investments. Negotiate contracts with vendors and service providers. Project Management: Lead and coordinate IT projects from initiation to completion, ensuring deadlines and objectives are met. REQUIREMENTS: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Relevant certifications such as ITIL, PMP, CISSP, or equivalent. Alternatively, candidates with relevant industry experience, including those who have gained skills through non-traditional educational paths or self-taught methodologies, are encouraged to apply.
