Responsibilities
: Taking ownership of all estimating and cost-planning activities. Ensuring that cost management and valuation work is executed effectively. Ensuring that project cost variances and change control processes are effectively and proactively managed. Ensuring that projected and current expenditure aligns with the original budget and that deviations are reported timeously and consistently. Developing whole lifecycle cost models. Ensuring that final accounts are negotiated and agreed upon timeously. Tracking margin levels and monthly fee/resource forecasts for all commissions. Acting as controller regarding the conclusion and adherence to contracts and terms. Ensuring that commissions are managed to the appropriate quality standards and completed efficiently and timeously. Assisting in negotiating, communicating, and adhering to suppliers’ terms. Assisting with close-out reports and project closure processes, including proper documentation compilation and archiving. Ensuring that service delivery on commissions is aligned with the conditions of appointment. Overseeing value engineering, risk management, and life-cycle costing. Applying value management techniques at the outset and throughout the running of a project. Taking ownership of the procurement process, ensuring that all stages – including pre-qualification, inquiry, Bill of Quantities, analysis, selection, and contract preparation – are performed effectively. Ensuring that QA/QC procedures are adhered to. Engaging with the client and other consultants at all project stages. Ensuring that business development opportunities with existing and new clients, including cross-selling opportunities, are identified and acted upon. Conducting feasibility studies and writing procurement reports. Cascading and retaining key information and data.
Key Skills: Strong analytical and data management abilities, Fluent in Afrikaans and English; with good communication skills, Ability to develop relationships with clients and cross-functional team members.
Qualifications: A diploma or bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying or other relevant tertiary qualification. Minimum 3 – 6 years’ experience. Experience in managing a small team and performing line management duties would be beneficial.
