The position offers the opportunity to excel both in the design office and on specific project sites within Africa.
Minimum Requirements:
BEng or BSc degree in Civil/Mining engineering is required. Honours degree would be an advantage. Professional Engineer with a minimum of 7 years specifically with tailings. Previous experience in design, construction, and surveillance of Tailings Storage Facilities with specific experience in serving as Engineer of Record or large projects. Proven track record of bringing projects in on time, within budget, and to the client’s satisfaction. Strong ability to manage multiple projects and clients simultaneously delivering design services on time and within budget. Strong technical ability in tailings management, geotechnics, heap leaching, and water management. Competent report and proposal writing skills requiring strong English language skills (verbal and written). Ability to review reports and carry out audits. Ability to manage people, and technical teams and mentor junior staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Review, design, construction, and remediation of tailings structures at all stages of the projects. This includes pre-feasibility, feasibility, detailed design, construction, operational and closure stages. Undertaking desk-based studies utilising data and information from a variety of sources. Undertaking due diligence reviews. Undertaking scoping and pre-feasibility studies. Design and supervision of mine waste facilities. Project management and co-ordination. Report and proposal writing. Mentorship of employees. Occasional travel to sites.
