Role Overview
The Legacy and Product Management team within OMiX Savings & Income is seeking a suitably qualified individual for a Senior Actuarial Specialist role.
The Legacy and Product Management team is responsible for the marketing, maintenance and enhancement of product propositions across the lower-, middle- and high-income markets. We are passionate about developing simple, yet innovative investment propositions that are relevant to our customers’ needs. We have an exciting opportunity available for someone who is passionate about delivering market-leading Investment solutions in a dynamic environment. We are looking for a driven leader to help us grow and maintain our existing Retail Investment proposition.
As the regulatory environment and industry standards evolve, we need to ensure the suite keeps abreast of these changes which will require the individual to navigate a wide range of technical and business issues. The individual will need to be able to draw insights from the various sources of customer data to influence the actions taken to improve customer and business outcomes.
While the individual will be involved in some BAU items, there is also a focus on driving strategically significant projects (of various sizes) for the book. This will require the individual to interact with various stakeholders across the product value chain.
Key Result Areas
Investigations related to product rules, business optimisation and feasibility studies, including product strategy.
Ownership of the customer data and its use within the area.
Oversight of the delivery of management information reports
Product enhancements and implementation, including system testing.
Documentation, including product specifications.
Supporting our Proposition Management, Distribution channels, Servicing areas and Technical Marketing functions in the ongoing maintenance and support of our Retail Investment propositions. In addition, providing support to IT in managing current product set on our product admin system.
Providing support across the PF, OM Wealth and Corporate Segments for various initiatives and projects that may arise/as well as maintaining and enhancing current initiatives.
Product reviews and recommending decisive action relating to customer value for money.
Automating of processes and reports using programming/coding techniques.
Role Qualifications, Skills and Experience required
Qualified actuary or Senior Actuarial student making good progress with exams with at least 4 years actuarial experience.
Experience and knowledge of actuarial models used to support the above-mentioned products.
Strong technical skills and attention to detail.
Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team and across teams.
Good communication skills (both written and verbal).
Ability to plan and prioritise.
Motivated self-starter who shows initiative, is proactive and looks for ways to improve existing processes.
Able to complete tasks within agreed timelines with limited guidance.
High levels of drive, energy and innovation.
Programming knowledge and experience with SQL will be advantageous.
Knowledge of Old Mutual’s Retail Savings and Income products, IT platforms and processes will be advantageous.
Please note: the appointments may be made at a lower role size depending on the successful candidates’ experience.
