"Our client is seeking a SENIOR ENGINEERING HYDROLOGIST/WATER RESOURCE with 10+ years of relevant experience to be based at the Hilton Office in KZN, MIDLANDS."
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Developing national/regional water balance plans Water resources yield and planning analysis and Water Services Development Plans. Water Conservation and Demand Management plans Master planning and network analysis Catchment hydrology assessments, including rainfall-runoff modeling. Design flood hydrology and Hydraulic modeling Conceptual design and sizing of stormwater infrastructure Flood risk assessment and flood line determination. Scientific report writing Project management, client liaison, and invoicing
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS: BSc Eng (Civil) or BSc Hydrology (Hons); a master’s degree would be advantageous. A proven track record in water resource planning, modeling, and reporting Professional registration (Pr.Sci.Nat or Pr.Eng) Extensive knowledge and experience using typical modeling systems used in South Africa (ACRU, Pitman, PC SWMM, WRYM, WRPM, HEC-RAS, GoldSim, WEAP, SWAT, Mike modeling, and DSS tools), along with proficiency in GIS Solid experience in hydrological modeling, water resources planning, flood determination, mining sector, stormwater management planning, and water balances Proficiency in GIS (Geographic Information Systems). Exposure to multilateral development institutions or development finance institutions (an added advantage). Experience with National Water Resources Ministries/Authorities (such as the DWS in South Africa) within a consulting environment. International project experience. Multidisciplinary water-related studies (national, regional water planning, individual water infrastructure project feasibility studies). Design and implementation of hydrological gauging networks. Modeling and implementation of contemporary adaptation options (such as Ecosystem-based Adaptation). ________________________________________
