Responsibilities
Responsibility for 3D modelling and engineering/manufacturing drawing generation of the Project Services Engineered and standard product range.
Ensure designs conform to a common design philosophy (Internal Standards)
Become a design specialist in one or more types of water treatment plants i.e. Waste water, Pharmaceutical, Desalination, etc.
Provide assistance and guidance to other mechanical designers on projects which fall within your area of expertise and specialisation
Mentor and train new and junior members of the design team
3D modelling of custom engineered products including (but not limited to): P&ID, GA,
Layouts and Manufacturing Drawings according to drawing office standards and project specific requirements
Generation and management of project equipment / line / valve schedules as required
Ensure the complete design meets clients / internal design specifications
Generating complete design data pack for the manufacturing and assembly of a plant
Selection of mechanical equipment as well as the sourcing of equipment (pumps, valves) where specialist/none standard items are needed.
Responsible for creation and maintenance of all parts and project Bill of Materials
Follow divisional configuration management requirements by maintaining project drawing registers
Ensure all general sound engineering practises is applied to design of water treatment plant equipment including equipment mounting and support as well as piping, instruments and vales, etc.
Create detailed production drawings
Create detailed site work drawings
Generation of all drawings / instructions for the correct and safe assembly and installation of a plant / skid.
Provide assistance to Project Manager’s staff to verify that mechanical construction by Services Southern Africa workshop, or outside sub contractors comply with detail design specifications and verify that correct as-built drawings are issued.
To ensure that all work carried out is in accordance with all Services Southern
Africa procedures and standards.
Carry out site surveys
Carry out quality control inspections on fabrication activities in the Project Services manufacturing facility and suppliers – taking full ownership of the fabrication of your own designs from start to finish.
Perform any other appropriate task requested by your line manager
Generate and maintain any documents pertaining to the role as required by the relevant process / procedure
Key Skills:
Knowledge of P&ID’s - preferable,
Computer Skills (CAD, MS Word, MS Excel, Google suite),
Knowledge of manufacturing principles,
Design of water treatment plants would be advantageous,
Good organisational skills.,
Attention to detail,
Teamwork skills,
Strong problem solving skills,
Qualifications:
Grade 12
Draughting qualification (MDDOP) - preferable
BTech / National Diploma Engineering Mechanical would be advantageous
Minimum of five – seven years 3D Modelling and Piping experience on Inventor or equivalent – preferable
