We invite suitably qualified candidates to apply for the Train Electrical Métier Manager position within the Engineering Department . The position will report to the Head of Engineering and is based in Dunnottar, Nigel (Gauteng Province).
Job Purpose
Manage the Train Control and Information Solutions (TC&IS) Métier on a Site to meet the QCD objectives of the Site Projects on four engineering Domains (sub-system, software, schematics & apparatus, verification and test according to four Axes), people, processes & tools, reference solutions and performance with an adequate balance between Projects and Metier requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Accountable for :
Implementing an organisation to ensure the proper management of the Train Electrical(TE) activities of the tenders/projects/programs under the responsibility of the Site as per the applicable TE instructions/processes.
Ensuring the proper follow-up of the QCD TE work packages for the Site. Supporting the TE team in the resolution of issues in particular those involving other stakeholders (internal or external) and to support them in the definition of priorities. Ensuring the design reviews are prepared and documented as per the project/program schedule and to follow-up the main open actions. Managing the development of the site TE team to ensure the adequacy of the capacity vs workload vs skills with the support of the N+1. Ensuring adequate TE resources are appointed to the projects/programs/tenders allocated to the Site. Managing the forecast of the Site workload, based on hypotheses provided by the workload manager and identifying necessary resources to secure project QCD commitments. Ensuring the Alstom Transport/Engineering rules & processes are understood and applied. Reporting on the progress of the Site TE / EDC activities and alert the N+1 in case of issue potentially impacting the achievement of the QCD commitment. Being a pro-active contributor to the improvement of the TE Métier rules in collaboration with the Central Train Electrical Engineering team. Contributing to the Central Engineering TE network.
Responsible for :
According to the Site team size and workload, taking the role of TEE on one project or tender. Applying and follow-up the People Management Cycle on time for the Site TE according to N+1 and HR instructions Having a pro-active challenging view on the overall Train Electrical studies performed by the Site team to enhance their adequacy/consistency and compliance the applicable instructions and guidelines. Providing feedback to Central Engineering on the application of the Train Electrical processes
KPI Measurement:
Continuous improvement of the TE team performance for project/program TE activities, Respect of QCD work packages. Design reviews performed on time and documented. Workload management, People Management cycle on time / Succession plan. Regular reporting to the management and alert in case of issue affecting the performance of the team. Contribution to TE Métierdevelopment and Central TE network involvement. Compliance to Engineering processes & instructions.
Minimum Requirements
3 years’ experience in electrical domain in railway industry Engineering background in electrical components, electrical products developments, wirings, train electrical architectures and systems/function Use of digital tools existing on the market to develop electrical products 1 year experience in management of engineering or multidisciplinary teams
