Job Summary:
The Driver is responsible for the safe and timely transport of animal patients to and from the Small Animal Hospital. This includes using the hospital ambulance to fetch and drop off patients, as well as performing general errands such as collecting supplies, delivering documents, and other tasks that require transportation. The Driver plays a crucial role in ensuring the hospital's operations run smoothly by maintaining a high level of care, responsibility, and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Transport:
- Safely transport animal patients to and from the hospital using the designated ambulance.
- Assist with the careful loading and unloading of animals, ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Communicate with hospital staff and clients regarding transport schedules and any specific needs of the patients.
- General Errands:
- Perform various errands as required by the hospital, including collecting and delivering supplies, medications, equipment, and documents.
- Ensure timely completion of all assigned tasks while maintaining a high level of accuracy and care.
- Vehicle Maintenance:
- Regularly inspect the ambulance and other hospital vehicles to ensure they are clean, well-maintained, and in good working condition.
- Report any issues or required maintenance to the appropriate personnel.
- Ensure all vehicles are stocked with necessary supplies, such as first aid kits, and that they are always ready for use.
- Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate records of all trips, including details of the patients transported, distances covered, and any incidents that occurred during transport.
- Keep logs of vehicle maintenance and fuel usage.
- Communication:
- Maintain clear and professional communication with hospital staff, clients, and suppliers.
- Provide updates on transport progress and any delays or issues encountered.
- Compliance and Safety:
- Adhere to all traffic laws and hospital policies regarding the transport of patients and the use of hospital vehicles.
- Ensure that all safety protocols are followed, particularly when transporting animals.
- Customer Service:

- Address any questions or concerns clients may have regarding the transport of their pets.
- Support Duties:

Qualifications:
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Experience in a similar role, preferably in a veterinary or medical environment.
- Knowledge of animal handling and care is an advantage.
