Our company in Germiston, East Rand is looking for a Project Section Lead with minimum 20 years experience in multi-skilled/multi-discipline environment. They

Position Overview:
The Drawing Office Project Section Leader is responsible for overseeing draughtsman on Projects and ensuring the successful delivery of project drawings and documentation. This role involves managing the drawing production process, coordinating with project teams, and ensuring that all drawings meet quality standards and project requirements and within agreed timeframes. This role is responsible for the technical coordination and management of projects in the drawing office. Ensure that drawing office resources are managed accordingly as well as ensuring details and designs are done in accordance to required specifications, client requirements, and good engineering practice for the specific project.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Team Leadership and Management:
- Manage a team of draughtsmen to produce project specific drawings as per project schedule
- Allocate tasks and responsibilities, ensuring optimal use of resources
- Mentor, develop and upskill team
- Project Coordination:
- Act as the primary point of contact between the drawing office and project management teams
- Ensure that all drawings and documentation are produced in accordance with project specifications and deadlines
- Coordinate with engineers, to gather information for draughtsman and clarify project requirements
- Quality Assurance:
- Review and approve all drawings and documentation before submission to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of drawing revisions, project changes, and document control
- Compliance and Standards:
- Ensure that all drawings adhere to company standards, regulatory requirements, and industry codes
- Client Interaction:
- Engage with clients to understand their requirements and provide updates on drawing progress
- Address and resolve any client concerns or issues related to drawing documentation
Qualifications & Experience:
- Diploma in engineering / 20 years + experience in a multiskilled / multidiscipline environment
- Proven experience in a drawing office or similar role, with a strong background in managing of draughtsmen
- Proficiency in relevant design software like AutoCAD Plant 3D / Inventor
- Must have advanced experience in the following disciplines:
- Civils (Layout, G.A’s and rebar schedules)
- Piping (Piping layouts, G.A’s and piping isometrics)
- Knowledge of piping standards such as Asme / Sans etc
- Structural (Layout, G.A’s and fabrications details.)
- Mechanical (knowledge of tanks, pressure vessels, and shop detailing thereof)
- Site experience is a must as noted below:
- Site installation assistance
- Site meetings
- Client meeting
- Knowledge of petrochemical and mining plant and equipment
