- Grade 12/ NQF Level 4
- Degree in a relevant field (Engineering, Materials Science, Supply Chain Management)
- Certification in procurement or supply chain management (SAPICS) – Advantageous
Lead and oversee research and development efforts to drive innovation and product development within a national manufacturing company, while also managing best supplier relationships and advising on procurement strategies.
- Develop and implement R&D strategies
- Support Director in managing the R&D team, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations
- Oversee research projects from conceptualization to product launch
- Collaborate with other departments
- Monitor industry trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities
- Manage R&D budget and resources efficiently
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards
- Idea generation, research, planning, product costing and raw material sourcing
- Identify and evaluate alternative for raw material and components suppliers, both within South Africa and internationally, to optimize cost and quality
- Conduct thorough assessments of potential suppliers
- Develop in-depth knowledge of procurement processes and best practices
- Provide strategic recommendations to senior management on procurement decisions, supplier selection, and R&D initiatives
- Conduct cost-benefit analyses for new materials, technologies, or suppliers
